Perlite

Perlite is an igneous rock with a high water content. It is formed when molten lava solidifies rapidly, trapping the water within it. Perlite is commonly used in horticulture and construction, as it is lightweight and can be used to aerate soil and as an insulation material within walls. Additionally, perlite is fireproof, pest-resistant, and absorbs very little moisture. It also has a unique physical property—when heated, perlite expands up to 20 times its original volume, making it an ideal addition to lightweight building materials.

Perlite is a versatile and effective building material. It is often used in lightweight concrete, stucco, insulation, fillers, and joint compounds. When added to concrete and other masonry materials, perlite increases resistance to cracking, adds thermal insulation properties, and improves water absorption. Additionally, perlite can be used in lightweight plasters, providing a natural finish to walls and ceilings. Perlite can also be used as an insulation material in walls, floors, and ceilings.
