From initial concept to final production, we prioritize communication and collaboration to guarantee that every aspect of the customized gear meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations.
Why Precision Matters in Girth Gear & Pinion Alignment?
A mismatched drive system is the leading cause of premature equipment failure. At Fodamon machinery, we don’t just supply components; we ensure operational harmony for your heavy-duty machinery.
- Matched Sets for Long Life: We highly recommend replacing the Girth Gear and Pinion as a matched pair. Using an old, worn pinion with a new girth gear can cause uneven load distribution, leading to rapid tooth wear.
- Advanced Metallurgy: Our gears are available in high-grade 42CrMo or ZG45, treated with precision quenching and tempering to resist pitting and abrasive wear in the harshest mining environments.
- Global Compatibility & OEM Standards: Whether you are running a ball mill, rotary kiln, or stone dryer, our custom-machined gears are designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications, ensuring seamless integration with your existing setup.

Girth Gear Technical FAQ
Q1: What materials are typically used for your girth gears?
A: We primarily use high-strength cast steel and alloy steel, such as ZG45, ZG42CrMo, and ZG35SiMn. These materials undergo rigorous quenching and tempering heat treatments to ensure the gear has high surface hardness and excellent core toughness, capable of withstanding heavy loads for long periods.
Q2: How do you ensure the precision and alignment of the girth gear during manufacturing?
A: Each girth gear is processed using large-scale CNC gear hobbing machines to ensure the tooth profile and pitch precision. We also perform a pre-assembly test in our workshop to verify the meshing clearance and ensure a perfect fit with the pinion gear, minimizing vibration during operation.
Q3: Can you customize girth gears for ball mills or rotary kilns of other brands?
A: Yes. We specialize in custom manufacturing. You can provide us with your technical drawings or key parameters (number of teeth, module, outer diameter, etc.), and our engineers will create a precise 3D model for production. We have supplied replacement girth gears for various global brands of rotary kilns and ball mills.
