What is Ilmenite?

Ilmenite is a titanium-iron oxide mineral with the chemical formula FeTiO3. It is one of the most important sources of titanium dioxide and titanium metal production. Ilmenite usually appears black or dark gray with metallic luster and is commonly found in beach sands, hard rock deposits and heavy mineral deposits.
